We have to admit that Le Tub Saloon is no longer the secret, locals-only burger joint it used to be, thanks to positive New York Times and GQ reviews as well as an Oprah endorsement that named LeTub’s burgers the best in the country (And this was after her legal woes in the late ’90s when the Texas Cattle Producers sued Oprah for defamation when she dared to say that mad cow disease had scared her into banning burgers. Go figure.). Top secret or not, the burgers at this Hollywood eatery are amazing and so is the cool, laid-back intercoastal waterway atmosphere. Don’t come here expecting polished service, after all, Le Tub was converted from a Sonoco gas station in 1974—we think its “rough around the edges” décor is part of the charm. The hand-painted bathtubs and toilet bowls are a bonus. Wait time for food can be up to an hour during high season. (Entrees $6-$22). 100 N. Ocean Dr, Hollywood, FL, 33019. Tel: (954) 931-9425.
